Lorna Martha Longlet, age 101, Fargo, ND, formerly Arthur, ND, died on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at Bethany on 42nd where she lived the past 10 months.
Lorna Martha Zimmerman was born Dec. 21, 1915 to William and Clara (Wolff) Zimmerman at Amenia, ND. Lorna was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Arthur. She attended rural grade school in the Red River School District at Amenia. She attended and graduated from high school in Arthur in 1933. Lorna helped with the family meat business before she was married. She taught Sunday school and was always very active in the Lutheran Church.
On March 10, 1936, Lorna married Roy Longlet, they farmed in the Amenia and Leonard, ND areas before moving to Arthur. After Roy passed away, she moved into an apartment in North Fargo where she lived until moving into Bethany on 42nd.
Lorna loved music, people and especially children. She joined Hope Lutheran Church and became involved in the Stephan ministry.
Lorna is survived by one son, Floyd (Louise); daughters, Carole Pederson, Judy (Melvin) Erdmann; son-in-law, Dennis Sellden; daughters; Rena (David) Peterson, Agnes (Tom) Zimney and Vada (Larry) Borud; one brother, Lloyd (Robin); and many grand and great grandchildren. She was awaiting her first great great grandchild at the beginning of the year.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara (Wolff) Zimmerman, her husband Roy in 1986, daughter, Diana 2010, son in-law, Allan 2011 and granddaughter Keleigh 2015, and four brothers, Walter, Wilmer, Melvin and Lester.
Visitation: Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
Funeral: Friday at 10:30 AM at Hope Lutheran Church – North Campus, Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Arthur Cemetery.
