Jacqueline Layne (Svare) Marcks

Jacqueline Layne Svare-Marcks, 77, Buffalo, ND, died on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Sanford West Medical Center, Fargo, ND after struggling for many years with liver disease and colon cancer.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Layne Svare was born on March 25, 1940 at Valley City, ND to Todd and Lila (McKay) Svare.  She grew up on the family farm near Wheatland and attended school in Wheatland, graduating in 1958.  She worked at Richland Dorms at Richland, WA, Dakota National Bank of Fargo and for 43 years at First State Bank of North Dakota in Buffalo; working her way up to Assistant Vice President before her retirement in March of 2004.  On November 26, 1960, Jacqueline married Gerald “Jerry” D. Marcks.

Jacqueline is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years Jerry Marcks, daughter Carolyn (Alan) Dostert, all of Buffalo, ND along with three grandchildren: Alexander Dostert, of West Fargo, ND, Anthony Dostert, of San Diego, CA, and Anastasia Dostert, of Big Sky, MT.  She is also survived by two sisters Lana Shuhart, of Bemidji, MN and Marilyn Hernandez, of West Fargo, ND, three brothers-in-law Bill Marcks, of Buffalo, ND, Harold George, of Osage Beach, MO, and Bill Byram, of Devils Lake, ND along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Elore Byram and Annis George.

The family had requested memorials to be sent in Jackie's name to the Casselton Ambulance Service. 

Visitation: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 5 -7 PM at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo with a prayer service at 7 PM.

Funeral: Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11 AM at Buffalo Lutheran Church, Buffalo, ND with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, ND following the service.
