Mavis (Schur) Levin

Mavis Levin, 88, Fargo, ND died on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Rosewood On Broadway, Fargo.

Mavis Jeanette Schur was born March 25, 1928 at Arthur, ND to Edward and Esther (Heiden) Schur. She was baptized, confirmed and graduated from high school in Arthur. Mavis married Marvin “Bob” Levin on Oct. 20, 1946 in Arthur. They made their home in Fargo. Mavis was a hardworking mother and housewife. By the time her two boys Mike and Rick were off to school, she was working her way into the management levels of the women’s clothing business. Her career started at the Dianna Shops in Fargo. Mavis and Bob then moved to Casselton, ND in 1969 where they owned and operated Bobby’s Bar until 1977. They lived in Arizona a short time before moving to Detroit Lakes, MN where Mavis continued her career with the Lady’s Unique. Her final chapter came with the Liz Claiborne division at Herberger’s in Moorhead, MN.  A stroke in 1996 cut her career short. She resided at Trollwood Manor until her failing health in February 2017 when she moved to Rosewood On Broadway.

Her retirement was blessed with time for her many friends and family. She is survived by a son, Michael Levin, Lake Park, MN; siblings, Don Schur, Fargo, Bernice Wadeson, Moorhead and Ken (Karen) Schur, Detroit Lakes; four grandchildren, John Levin, Anne (Gordon) Braseth, Amy (Mark) Porter and Sarah (Eddy) Reif; and 11 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Sydney, Jackson, Jenna, Payton, Brody, Tyler, Trevor, Tommy, Hazel and Alex.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Bob” in 1991; a son, Rick in 2011;  brothers, Bob and Jim Schur; brother-in-law, Don Wadeson; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Schur.

Memorials are preferred to the Arthur Cemetery.

Funeral: Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: Arthur Cemetery.
