Sandy Bunn

Sandy Bunn, 54, of West Fargo, ND, passed away after a short battle with cancer on the evening of November 23rd surrounded by loved ones at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Sandy was born in Huron, SD on July 26, 1968, to Jerald "Jerry" Westby Sr. and Verna (Gaudig) Westby. Growing up, they moved around following Jerry’s job as a construction worker. She graduated high school in Leonard, ND in 1986 where she was active in cheerleading and basketball. She met the love of her life, Jesse Bunn, shortly before she graduated high school at the age of 17. After high school she continued her education at NDSU, NDSCS and University of Mary where she received her bachelor’s degree.

Jesse and Sandy married on March 27, 1993, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in downtown Fargo, ND. They honeymooned in Maine and New England where she enjoyed touring the lighthouses and eating lobster. Sandy enjoyed going camping with family and visiting relatives all over the country, as well as making sure to stop at any restaurant that Gui Feiri visited in his TV show. She was an avid cook and liked to try new recipes for her family to eat during holidays and weeknight meals. Mom made sure we sat down to a home cooked meal each night and valued her time with her family. She enjoyed reading and always made sure to pack a few books on each trip she went on. Sandy was a wine connoisseur and made the decision with Jesse to start a vineyard on the Bunn Family Farm, where she enjoyed visiting and working on the vines.

Sandy and Jesse have two children, Nora (28) and Carson (25).  Sandy enjoyed attending the many sporting events of her kids and met life-long friends who she enjoyed spending time with. Sandy was a loyal friend and had a very active social life attending bingo at local bars and making sure to go to craft fairs and expos as often as she could. Sandy welcomed her granddaughter, Lillian, in 2016 and loved being a grandma, always making sure she was the most fashionable kid in her daycare.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Verna, as well as her mother-in-law Patty Bunn and brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Messner. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Bunn, and her two kids Carson and Nora and one granddaughter Lillian. As well as her brothers and sisters; Lori Messner, Lynn (Tyler) Anderson, Steve (Kathrina) Westby, Jerry Westby Jr., and Jess Westby; sister-in-law Rhonda (David) Orth and five nieces and two nephews with one on the way.

Visitation:  Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 5 - 7 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7 pm, all in West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND
