Rosetta “Rose” Olson, 92 of West Fargo, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at her home.
Rosetta Frances Karpinske was born on February 22, 1931 on a farm near Florence, SD, the daughter of Frank L. and Mary (Ronke) Karpinske. At the age of three, she moved with her family to a farm north of Wallace, SD where she attended country grade school. She and her parents moved to Watertown, SD where she graduated from Watertown High School in 1949. She was employed at the Codington County ASC office in Watertown while continuing piano and pipe organ study.
Ronald G. Olson and Rosetta were united in marriage on June 6, 1953 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. They made their home in Forman, ND where she was employed at the Sargent County ASC office. In 1955 they moved to Casselton, ND. She taught private piano lessons and then was employed at the Cass County Reporter, retiring in 1993 due to health reasons.
Rosetta was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton where she had served as organist. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Past President’s Parley, VFW Auxiliary, Cynosure Women’s Club, TOPS club, Silver Treads Senior Citizens and Red Hats. In 2007 she moved to West Fargo, ND, residing at the Cooperative Living Center and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Rosetta is survived by her five children, Linda (Curt Raab) Olson of Fargo, ND, Dennis (Helen) Olson of Chandler, AZ, Karen (Rick) Albaugh of Hebron, IN, Laura (Vint) Turner of Glenns Ferry, ID and Michael (Jody) Olson of Sheldon, IA; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 2006; an infant son, David Paul in 1957; her parents; brothers, Clement and Gerald and her sisters, Ruth Johnson and Edna Blauwet.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10am Saturday, June 10, 2023, St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton, ND
Visitation and Prayer Service: 5 to 7pm Friday, June 9, followed by a 7 pm Prayer Service all at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
Interment: St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Casselton, ND
