Rodney J. Erdmann, age 65, of West Fargo, ND, died Sunday, August 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
Rodney Jerome Erdmann was born February 12, 1954, in Valdosta, Georgia, the son of Marvin and Marilyn (Eggert) Erdmann. The family moved to Horace, ND, and Rod graduated from West Fargo High School in 1972. He began his lifelong career working for Interstate Seed (Monsanto Seed/Bayer Corp) in 1973.
On September 20, 1974, Rod and Carol Stevenson were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo. They made their home in West Fargo and raised 6 children: Angela (Brad) Paulson, Brian Erdmann, Christina Schneider, Dawn (Derek) Mittelstadt, Erik (Ashley), and Francie (Cameron Glaser-Thurston) Erdmann.
Rod worked at Monsanto Seed, and he always told his family that he had spent another day at work “shipping high quality soy”. He was recognized in 2013 by Monsanto for Excellence in Manufacturing.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and being with his dogs. Rod loved time spent with family, and especially the time spend at their lake home on Lake Ashtabula. His family remembers his love for making people laugh.
In addition to his immediate family, Rod is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Liz), Mark (Karen), Dave (Darla); one sister Barb (Ron) Rheault; and several nieces and nephews.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents Marvin & Marilyn, and his beloved dog Sadie.
