Regina “Jeannie” Weber, 90, Casselton, ND died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. She died peacefully with family present.
Jeannie was born in Devils Lake on March 14, 1928, to John and Regina Neis. She attended St. Mary’s school and graduated in 1946. She attended Lake Region Junior College for two years, and then completed her education with two years at Valley City State with degrees in Music and English. While attending Valley City State she met her future husband, Francis “Hans” Weber. Jeannie taught music at Scranton and Bottineau ND schools for about two years. She and Hans were married June 12, 1951 and settled on the family farm near Casselton where they lived until Hans retired in 1990. During this time, they raised two children. Jeannie kept busy as a mother, farm wife, and homemaker. Jeannie and Hans were married for 60 wonderful years until Han’s death in 2011.
Jeannie will be remembered as an engaging friend to many, as well as a loving, caring, and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She had many outside interests and activities. She directed the choir at St. Leo’s Church for many years. Jeannie had a lovely soprano voice, and sang at many weddings, funerals, and community events. Her interest in music included playing and teaching piano. Her volunteer activities included teaching English to Vietnam refugees and leading a local Camp Fire Girls troop. She was active in women’s groups and Bible Study groups. She enjoyed golfing with friends and her sister. She was an avid reader.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband Hans, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children: Steve, Casselton, ND and Karen (Frank) Boardman, Plymouth, MN; grandchildren Jon, Michael, Elizabeth, Katie; great-grandson Jack; sisters Helen Murray, Bernie Neis, and brother Ed Neis.
VISITATION: 6PM - 7PM on Sunday, September 23, 2018, with a PRAYER SERVICE held at 7PM, all in West Funeral Home, Casselton
FUNERAL MASS: 11AM Monday in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Casselton, ND
BURIAL: St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery, Casselton.
