Myron Bjelverud, 96, Fargo, ND died on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.
Myron Arnold Bjelverud was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Galesburg, ND to George and Gina (Gisvold) Bjelverud. He graduated from high school in Galesburg and continued his schooling at Wahpeton State School of Science. Myron enlisted in the US Navy and served at Pearl Harbor as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class. Upon discharge, he returned to Galesburg and worked as a carpenter and then at the elevator. Myron married Beverly C. Kyllo on May 31, 1947 in Fargo. They lived at Galesburg, Finley, ND, Rustad, MN and Berthold, ND where Myron managed grain elevators. Upon his retirement in 1985, they returned to Galesburg where they lived until moving to Edgewood Vista in Fargo in 2011.
Myron was a member of Elm River Lutheran Church and served as sexton of the Elm River Cemetery. He was also a member of the Galesburg and Berthold American Legion Posts and was a supporter of the Berthold American Legion Baseball. Myron enjoyed baseball especially the MN Twins. Myron was honored to go to Washington, DC on the Honor Flight. He was a member of the ND Grain Dealers Association and served as its president. After retirement, he also enjoyed his time helping his daughter and son-in-law on the farm.
He is survived by two daughters, Gail (Myles) Brostom of Stillwater, MN and Joan (Gordy) Olson of Colfax, ND; two grandsons, Jeffrey Olson and Craig (Erica) Olson; four great grandchildren, Carter, Andrew, Brynne and Paige; and several nieces and nephews.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bev in December of 2019 and six siblings, Beulah (Albert) Skogstad, Juliet (Ole) Bratholt, Kenneth (Mildred) Bjelverud, Alton (Gladyce) Bjelverud, Eleanor (Fred) Palmer and Donna (Marvin) Johnson.
Funeral: Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 at 11 AM at Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg, ND with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Elm River Cemetery, Galesburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the SB Aasen American Legion Post 210 and the Elm River Lutheran Church, both of Galesburg.
