Melvin Liebelt, 71, West Fargo, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Melvin Douglas Liebelt was born May 17, 1949 at Harvey, ND to Arnold and Monica (Weist) Liebelt. He grew up on the family farm near Hurdsfield, ND. He graduated from Hurdsfield High School in 1967. Mel received a welding degree from the Wahpeton State School of Science. He married Beverly Budish in August of 1968 at Hurdsfield. Mel served in the US Army and upon discharge he returned to North Dakota. He and Bev made their home in Fargo and later settled West Fargo. He worked at the VA Medical Center retiring in 2004 with 35 years of service.
Mel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at Devils Lake and on the family farm. He also enjoyed gardening, having fish fries, tinkering in the garage and helping family and friends with projects. He was a life member of the West Fargo VFW.
Mel is survived by his wife, Beverly; two sons, Jess of West Fargo and Aron (Jill) of Fargo; a grandson, Magnus; five siblings, Bonnie Ringstad of Casselton, Ellary (Jo) of Lidgerwood, ND, Kenny (Debby) of Harvey, Craig of Colorado Springs, CO and Lanette (Dean) Johnson of Casselton, ND; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service was held.
