Maxine Richardson Obituary

Maxine Kuhn Richardson was born on February 11, 1923 in Enderlin, ND to parents, Edmund and Anna (Wagner) Kuhn.  She passed away quietly on February 14, 2022 at Eventide Nursing Home in Fargo, ND, at the age of 99.

Maxine graduated from Enderlin High School in 1941.  She continued her education at the Minneapolis School of Business, completing a secretarial program.  She then began her career in the accounting department of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis.  In October of 1944 she transferred to the accounting department of Northwestern Bell in Fargo and later advanced to a position of supervisor.  Maxine continued working in an office environment until she was in her mid-60s.

Maxine married Charles Richardson, also from Enderlin, on April 11, 1944.  They made their home in Fargo and Moorhead while raising their four daughters.

Throughout her life, Maxine enjoyed dancing, playing cards and board games, as well as reading, crocheting, and solving word puzzles.  She loved to travel, and she was an avid shopper.  Unlike most people, Maxine did not particularly enjoy TV.  However, she made an exception for Lawrence Welk and Dancing with the Stars.  For some unknown reason after Chuck passed away, she developed a passion for NASCAR.  Her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr., because “he’s such a nice boy.”

Maxine is survived by her four daughters, Sharon Schreiner, West Fargo, ND, Kay Kieselbach, Moorhead, MN, Carol Swenson, Maplewood, MN, and Linda (Kyle) Kuntz, Livingston, TX.  She is also survived by her brother, Vernon (Ann) Kuhn, and sister-in-law, Lois Kuhn; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Doris Galbreath.

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles Richardson; her parents; brothers Herbert, Marvin, and Donald Kuhn; sister-in-law, Betty Kuhn; and sons-in-law, Bernard Kieselbach, Marshall Swenson, and Roger Schreiner.
   Memorials are preferred to Eventide.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Eventide nursing home in Fargo, and Ethos Hospice, for their compassion, kindness, and caring attention in Maxine’s time of need.

Service: Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.
