Kristen Ann Nitschke, 31, of Fargo, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Kristen Ann Nitschke was born on Christmas Day in 1987 in Fargo, N.D, the daughter of Patty and Harvey Nitschke. She graduated from West Fargo High in 2006. She became a phlebotomist at Essentia Hospital. Kristen received her LPN Nursing degree in 2009 at NDSCS and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Dickinson State College.
Kristen pursued one of her many goals by buying her own home, getting her dog, Maverick, and working at Essentia Hospital. She enjoyed the challenge of working on Med-Surg floor for two years. As a little girl, she had a dream of working as a nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit like her mom, Patty. That dream came true. Kristen loved working as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Essentia along side of her mom. Kristen was recognized and received the Daisy Award for her excellence in patient care. Her co-workers and patients were inspired by the passionate nature of her care. She was a great mentor and leader to her co-workers.
In the most difficult situations at home or at work, you could absolutely rely on Kristen to be reliable, level-headed and honest. She never sugar-coated anything. Kristen enjoyed camping, bonfires, going to concerts with friends, especially the “Backstreet Boys” and the “WE Fest.” She enjoyed family fish-fries, traveling and on-line shopping and never missed a ‘Black Friday’ shopping experience.
Despite the fact that she fought the painful complications of auto-immune disease for the past year, her faith and will never wavered. She fought the good fight. Kristen radiated fun and excitement wherever she went. She will ever be loved and missed by her mother Patty, her brothers Jason and Brandon, her sister Jenn, her grandmother Viola, her aunt Martha and Uncle Milo, family in California, her friends, coworkers and beloved dog Maverick.
She has been met with the loving and open arms of her dad, Harv and her grandfather, Leonard.
May she always be at peace knowing what a force for good she was in this world, and the imprints she left on her family’s hearts and the hearts of so many others.
