Kent Johnson

Kent Johnson, age 65, of West Fargo, ND, died Thursday, May 26, 2022, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Kent Lee Johnson was born on October 9, 1956, in Lisbon ND to Earl R. & Betty (Hanson) Johnson. He grew up in Fingal ND and graduated from Fingal High School in 1974. In the fall of 1974, he joined the Marines and served until his discharge in 1976.  He then attended NDSCS, Wahpeton, ND, in the Auto Mechanics program for 2 years, and attended Moorhead Tech for Sales Marketing and Management.  Kent served as a Law Enforcement officer in Wahpeton for a short time and worked with the US Postal Service in Wahpeton and Fargo.

On June 15, 1990, Kent was united in marriage to Yvonne Allard in Bottineau ND. They continued to reside in West Fargo. His children Nicole (Justin Leach) Johnson,  Fergus Falls, MN, Heather (Anthony) Kleinwachter,  West Fargo, ND, Lori (Bruce Rensvold) Martin,  West Fargo, ND, Donald Martin, Moorhead, MN, and Carl Oltman, Wahpeton, ND, along with his grandchildren Emily, Natalie, Alexis & Evan plus his great grandchildren Benjamin & Samwise were a special part in his life.

His love of cars, driving, restoring, and collecting were part of his passion while working for Dave’s Tire, Fargo Tire, Tires Plus, and Valley Tire. In June 2019 he retired to spend more time with his family and continue his passion for cars.

Kent is survived by his wife Yvonne, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his siblings: Earl (Evangeline) Johnson, Fargo, ND,  Robert (Barbara) Johnson, Florida, Dwight (Karen) Johnson, Rogers, ND,  Mark (Pam) Johnson, Tower City, ND, Pam Johnson, Breckenridge, MN, and Lori (Mike) Harner, Highland Park, CO.  Also surviving is his mother: Betty (Gene Robach) Gibbons, Oriska, ND.

Kent was preceded in death by his father Earl R. Johnson, Sr., father-in-law Joseph Allard, brother-in-law Juan Gomez and also his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation:  5 – 7 pm Sunday, June 5, 2022, with a Prayer Service held at 7 pm, all in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND

Funeral:  10:30 am Monday, June 6, 2022, in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, with Military Honors to follow the service. 

Burial:  Hillside Cemetery, Fingal, ND
