Kenneth Anderson Obituary

Kenneth Douglas Anderson, 84, of Fargo, formerly of Hunter, ND and Kailua Kona, HI, died Monday, December 10, 2018, at the ND Veterans Hospital in Fargo.

Kenneth was born February 24, 1934, at Hunter, ND, the son of John and Myrtle (Classon)  Anderson.  He was raised on a farm near Hunter and attended the Greenfield Consolidated School.  After graduating from the Hunter High School, Ken enlisted on September 9, 1952 in the US Navy, serving during the Korean War.  He was discharged on September 11, 1956 and in October of that year, moved to San Francisco, CA where he worked and attended college.  Ken then moved to Kailua-Kona, HI in 1965, living there until coming to Fargo November 1, of this year to be near family. Ken worked at several hotels, but spent 30 years  as the auditor at the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Kenneth was a member of the Mokuaikaua Church for over 40 years, sang in the choir and was soloist at many weddings and funerals. He was also a part of many community choirs.  He volunteered many years at the church as a cook for the preschool children and many hours cooking for the homeless.  Kenneth, along with Dr. Charles Roberts, DDS, made several medical retreats providing free dental care first in the Pacific Islands and then Sierra Leone.   He loved photographing his travels..

He is survived by sisters:  Dolores Corley of Fargo and Joanne Martin of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother:  Merlyn Anderson of Hunter, ND; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother: Donald,  a brother:  Gordon; sisters:  Junelle Moen,  Donna Herron and Norma Skjoiten.  

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran church, Hunter, ND,  Hunter Cemetery or a favorite charity.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the West Funeral Home Chapel in West Fargo.
