John Hansen

John Hansen, 91, Buffalo, ND died on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

John Grommesh Hansen was born on March 15, 1930 to John and Gertrude (Grommesh) Hansen at the family farm in Buffalo, ND. He was educated in the area and completed the 11th grade. On December 2, 1951 he entered the US Army and served in the Korean War, completing his tour of duty on November 17, 1953.  On May 20, 1952, John was united in marriage to Helen Ausk at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Alice, ND. They made their home on the Hansen homestead between Alice and Buffalo where they farmed for many years.  In 1969 he started his employment at Steiger Tractor retiring in 1995. John returned to Steiger, now known as CASE IH, in 1996 giving plant tours until 2006.

After retiring, John has enjoyed traveling, the great outdoors, mowing grass, puzzles and driving his beloved convertible until his passing.

He is survived by five children, Renee Radloff, Jeanine (Ed) Strom, Monica (Steve) Jacobs, Scott Hansen, Stacey Woodward; ten grandchildren, Jesse (Brenda) Radloff, Troy (Ruth Ann) Radloff, Vanessa Warling, Jenna (Craig) Syverson, Ashley (David) Lundberg, Symone (Evan) Rector, Shayla Thorsland, Riley, Taylor and Cheyenne Woodward; nine great grandchildren, Alivia, Mikela and Tabitha, Mercedes, Vanessa and Greyson, Nora and Arthur and Henry; two great great granddaughters, Hayden and Eden; siblings, Gloria Sauvageau and Jean Orban; brother-in-law, Verrill Sprunk; sister-in-law, Joanne Hansen.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Gregory; siblings, Zelda Block Darrell Hansen, Pearl Byrne, Yvonne McMahon and Orey Hansen; and son-in-law, Tim Radloff.

Funeral Service: Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 at 3 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

Burial:  Watson Cemetery, rural Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Thomas Catholic Church in Buffalo, the Fargo VA Medical Center (volunteers area) or Hospice of the RRV.
