Jessie Mayer

Jessie J. Mayer, 77, of West Fargo, died Monday, November 14, 2022, at Essentia Health in Fargo. 

Jessie James Mayer was born Feb 15, 1945, in Streeter, ND, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Hottman) Mayer.  He was educated in Streeter and spent over 35 years working for Sorenson and Sherman Excavating, installing sewer and water lines. Jessie married Emily Fortier on April 25, 1981, at the Community Presbyterian Church in West Fargo.  The couple made their home in West Fargo.

He enjoyed the outdoors, sitting on the patio, camping, bowling,  snowmobiling with the Sheyenne Valley Riders, but especially the time spent with his family.  Jessie was known as the “Can Man” for his many years of collecting cans.

Jessie is survived:  sons:  Terry (Tana Davis) Grieger,  Tod (Robin Thompson) Grieger,  Tim (Heather) Larson;  a daughter:  Nicole Mayer all of West Fargo;  many  grandchildren, and great-grandchildren;  sisters:  Betty Ginsburg of Bismarck, ND and Jackie Ellingson in Arkansas; brothers:  Donnie Mayer and Alvin Mayer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents;  wife:  Emily; daughter:  Barbara Johinack;  siblings:  Paul Jr.,  Evangeline Pressler,  Delores Tachenko, Violet Frantl and Donna Mae Webb.

Visitation: 3 to 4pm, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, West Funeral Home in West Fargo.

Memorial Service :  4 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, at the funeral home.
