Jean Harmon, 93, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Park Rapids.
Jean Audre Madsen was born on July 21, 1928, in Wheatland, N.D., to Iver and Mabel (Archer) Madsen. She grew up there and attended local schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in Casselton in 1947. She then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, earning a certificate in clerical practice and civil service, after which she worked for Stanley Home Products.
On October 23, 1949, she married Kermit Dean Harmon at Hunter Methodist Church in Hunter, N.D. She was a homemaker and helped Kermit with bookkeeping while he was employed by Berg Motors. They lived in Fargo, N.D. until 1989, when they moved to Potato Lake (Park Rapids). They also wintered in Mesa, AZ for 32 years.
Jean and Kermit volunteered extensively for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, where she volunteered and attended weekly bible study. She also volunteered for the local Lions Club, cooking for their dinners, and always enjoyed a game of cards.
Jean is survived by her grandchildren, Reade (Rachel Mays) Thompson of MI, Kristine (Alex) James; great-grandchildren, Michael, Kenny, and Bryant; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Johnson and Jean Madsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit; daughters Connie Thompson and Debbie Harmon, and two infant children; her son-in-law, Harland Thompson; three brothers, Tom, Lorry, and Jim Madsen; and a sister, Eleanor Ernst.

Funeral Service: Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., in West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Hunter, North Dakota.
Gathering of Friends for Remembrance: Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., in Riverside United Methodist Church, Park Rapids, MN.
