Jakob Dirks

Jakob A. Dirks, 23, of West Fargo, died Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Jakob Alan Dirks was born October 7, 1994, at Heartland Hospital in Fargo, son of Brian and Deanna (Meier) Dirks.  He was raised and educated in West Fargo, graduating from West Fargo High School in 2012.  Jakob was then employed in various areas of construction.

He was a hard working young man and will be remembered for his “smile and hugs”. Jakob’s nephew and niece and cousins were very special to him.  He enjoyed hunting with his father, sister and brother, playing hockey in high school and summer men’s softball.

Grateful for sharing in his memory are his parents;  sister:  Amanda (Nick Sykes) Dirks of Elk River, MN;  brother:  Ben Dirks of West Fargo;  nephew:  Wyatt Sykes; niece: McKenzie Sykes; maternal grandparents:  Dwight & Signe Meier of Fargo; special great-uncle:  Booie Dirks in Wyoming; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents:  Barney Dirks and Lorraine Dirks and uncle:  Craig Dirks.

“Thanks for being there for everyone.  No matter what.  You’d put it all on the line for anyone no questions asked.  Always had my back and wasn’t scared to tell me when I’m being an idiot.  My heart is broken and I miss you already.  Always everyone’s protector and no doubt you still are.  Til we meet again…..”

Visitation:   5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo. 

Prayer Service:  7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Funeral:   1 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018, Lutheran Church of the Cross in West Fargo.
