Irene Walkinshaw, 95, Fargo, ND passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Elim Care Center in Fargo.
Irene Katherine Eggert was born June 19, 1928 in Fargo to Walter and Bertha Eggert. She attended school for a short time in West Fargo before the family moved to Argusville where she graduated from high school. Irene married Everett Walkinshaw on July 12, 1947, in Fargo, ND. They made their home on the family farm West of Argusville where they raised their six children and continued to farm until he retired in 1990. Irene was active on the farm and enjoyed driving combine at harvest. She was meticulous about keeping the farm yard mowed and tending the garden and flower beds. Everett died in 2015 and Irene later moved into Fargo.
She loved spending time with family and friends, dancing, summer vacations and winters in Arizona along with doing puzzles with family. Irene was an active member of Argusville UCC Church for many years serving as a Sunday School Teacher and in the Ladies Aide. She also served as an election clerk for many years. Irene will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
Irene is survived by her five children, Donna Westrick, Karen (Rich) England, both Fargo; Lynn (John) Scott and Pam Toussaint, both Eden Prairie, MN; a son, Roger (Deb) Walkinshaw, Argusville; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two sisters, Eleanor Hanson and Marion (Clayton) Nedrebo; and many nieces and nephews.
