Grantley Johnson Obituary

Grantley Paul Johnson was born July 11, 2012 to Jordan and Leah Johnson.  After a heroic battle with AML Leukemia, Grantley found healing in the loving arms of Jesus on February 6th, 2020.

To know Grantley was to love him. His zest for life was contagious.  Little Man loved wrestling (and showing off his new moves), the Vikings, making his favorite meal of noodles and cheese with corn on top with mom and "Bro Days" with dad when they would go to the gym and then head to Ihop for breakfast. Grantley made friends easily.  In the words of his best friend Harper, "Grantley was a nice, awesome, and caring friend."  Grantley had many friends at Freedom Elementary where he attended 2nd grade.  He loved school, especially math.

The last two years of Grantley's life involved a lot of time spent at Sanford Children's hospital, but his bravery was unwavering.  Grantley made the most of each day making friends with the other patients, playing video games, doing art projects, playing floor hockey in Cully's Cabin, and instigating many epic Nerf wars through the halls with his favorite nurses.  No one was safe! Grantley made his coaching debut with the Minot Tauros and quickly became a part of the team.  He loved dressing up like Coach Marty in his matching suit and glasses!  Grantley loved celebrating Christmas, visiting family, spending time with his friends, and playing video games with his best buddies Hendrix, Jack, and Liam.

We will miss his infectious giggle, his jokes, his quick wit and one-liners, the way his bright blue eyes lit up when he was pulling pranks, his snuggles, his creative spirit, and his tender loving heart.  Our hearts are broken but we anticipate the day when we will see each other again.

Grantley loved his family deeply.  He leaves behind his parents Jordan and Leah Johnson (West Fargo, ND), Grandparents Mike and Linda Lage (Audubon, MN), Grandparents Taryce and Ron Olson (Upham, ND), Aunt Shari Lage (Fargo, ND), Uncles Brett Lage & Bill Unruh (Minneapolis, MN), Aunt Dee & Uncle Mike Vanhove (Minot, ND), Great Grandpa Lester “Red” Johnson (Bottineau, ND), Great Grandma Myrna Shelkey (Upham, ND), Great Grandma Shirley Glander (Frazee, MN) and numerous  great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Grantley will also be immensely missed by many honorary aunties and uncles, cousins, and friends.

Grantley was preceded in death by great grandparents Grant and Lillian Lage, great grandfather Norman Glander, grandfather Doug Johnson, great grandmother Leila Johnson, and great grandfather Jule Brunsvold.
