Georgia Bogardus Obituary

Georgia Jean Bogardus, 79 ½ (exactly to the day), West Fargo, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo.

Georgia Jean Erickson was born on Friday, June 13, 1940, in Milnor, ND.  She was raised on a farm near Cogswell, ND, by her mother and stepfather, George and Esther (Jacobson) Fordyce.  She attended and graduated from school in Cogswell where she met the love of her life Byron “Cameron” Bogardus.  They married in 1958 and started their family before moving briefly to Ellendale, ND.  In 1961, they moved to Fargo and then ending up settling in West Fargo where their family had grown into 4 children.

Georgia had numerous passions including her family, her religion, music, and enjoying outdoor scenery.  In addition to raising 4 children and working full time, she always attended church and made sure her home was neat and tidy.  She was very family oriented and immensely enjoyed time with her children, and later, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She loved to sing to family at various times in the form of lullabies, Christmas songs, “Jeepers Creepers”, and while sometimes playing her piano.  She loved to bake and cook for her family and even taught many of her recipes to everyone while they were young.  She and her husband loved to have the entire family over for holiday celebrations where everyone would crowd together into their house and enjoy a delicious meal and family time - until the family grew so big that they could no longer fit into their house!  Georgia also enjoyed the outdoors and spent many weekends at their lake cabin.  She would love to go on rides with her family and take in all the beautiful scenery, especially during the fall when the leaves would change at places like Itasca State Park.  She also enjoyed going for rides around Christmas time to see all of houses lit up brightly with their Christmas decorations.  She was very fond of “Precious Moments” figurines and had obtained quite a large collection and especially enjoyed ones that reminded her of her family.  She was a member of Valley Christian Church in Moorhead, MN, where she spent many Sundays with her family.  She would even bring her grandchildren to Vacation Bible School or Sunday School if they wanted to attend with her.  She led her life by trying to be a good example by being a good Christian.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Georgia is survived by her children:  Perry (Liz) Bogardus, Fargo, ND, Vandi (Bob) Snyder, West Fargo, ND, Todd (Elaine) Bogardus, West Fargo, ND, and Christopher Bogardus, Cheyenne, WY; her grandchildren:  Robert (Desiree) Snyder Jr., Lindsay Bogardus, Jeremy (Shannon) Snyder, Jarrod (Christina) Bogardus, Amanda (John) Miller, Samantha Bogardus, Sara Bogardus, Ashley Bogardus, Caleb Bogardus, Roscoe Boatman, and Beth Boatman; great-grandchildren:  Jordan Hanson, Andrew Snyder, Raelee Miller; and one sister, Betty Sells.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Byron Cameron Bogardus, parents George and Esther Fordyce, four sisters: Evelyn (Frank) Abbott, Grace Rescorla, Gladys (Tony) Hegel, and Virginia Erickson, three great-grandchildren:  Maecy Snyder, Kinley Snyder, Joseph Snyder, and one brother-in-law:  Jerry Sells.
