Frank Kratky, age 80, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his home under the care of his loving wife Patricia and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Frank Lanning Kratky was born on May 19, 1941, in Chicago IL to Frank and Marcella (Zmrhal) Kratky. He attended school at Oak Park & River Forest High School, Oak Park, IL, and graduated in 1959. He then attended the University of Michigan 1959-1964 and graduated there with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1964. He began his career with Perkins&Will Architect, Chicago.
In 1965 Frank joined the United States Peace Corp and served until 1967 in Shiraz, Iran.
On August 4, 1966, he was united in marriage to Patricia L. Roach in Tehran, Iran. Following their Peace Corp service, they lived in Minneapolis MN and then Moorhead, MN (1973 to present). Frank entered graduate school at the University of Minnesota School of Architecture. After graduating, Frank was first employed at Ellerbe Architects, St. Paul, MN, later Foss Architecture, Fargo (1973-1986), and Lightowler Johnson Associates (1986-2004). He served as Adjunct Professor in the NDSU College of Architecture & Design program from 2004-2014.
Among many hobbies, Frank enjoyed wood carving, control line model airplane building & flying, landscaping, gardening, and singing solos and in church choirs. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Moorhead and held the office of Elder.
Frank is survived by his wife Patricia, one sister Marcia Beth Kratky, Minneapolis, MN, and a cousin Cynthia Perrizo, Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Steve Kratky.

Funeral: 2 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead, MN, with Visitation held one hour prior to his service.
