Dorothy M. Laybourn, 59, of West Fargo, passed away Friday, January 14th, 2022, at her home.
Dorothy Margaret Laybourn was born June 29, 1962, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Hale and Barbara (Mackay) Laybourn. As a youngster, the family moved to Fargo where she graduated from Fargo North High School in 1980. She was apart of ROTC at the University of Wyoming. Dorothy graduated from Interstate Business College in Fargo in 1982, then graduated from Moorhead State University of Minnesota in 1997, with a Bachelors Degree in Community Health. She was employed as a courier for a time, as a travel agent in California and received training as a licensed Transpersonal Licensed Hypnotherapist. Dorothy served on the board of the Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health at the State level, also attending the National Convention in Washington, DC. During her life, she was a spiritual seeker and was a dedicated advocate for the rights of individuals.
Dorothy loved her Scottish heritage, family history, music, food, the food network, dearly loved cats and horses and had a collection of stuffed animals. She was an extremely kind person and dedicated parent. Dorothy enjoyed fun times at their Leach Lake cabin, some golfing and hot sauce.
Surviving is her daughter: Alison Laybourn and son: Jordan Laybourn both of Fargo; siblings: Lillian Laybourn in California, Deborah Pender in Vermont, Constance (Jalal Harb) Laybourn in California, Paul (Susan) Laybourn of Ft Collins, CO and Richard (Carole) Laybourn in Texas; aunt: Margaret “Miggs” Laybourn; aunt: Lois Mackay of Moorhead, MN; cousins: James (William Weightman) Mackay of Moorhead, Thomas (Sheral Graham) Mackay in Hawaii, Dimity O’Neal, Peter Laybourn, Felicity Lynch, Melissa Leger, Royal Laybourn, John Laybourn, Dan Laybourn, Tatinana Maxwell and Jim Laybourn.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; Hale & Barbara Laybourn; uncle: Robert Laybourn; aunts: Louise Marie Laybourn, Marie Louise Laybourn, Patricia Laybourn, Jackie Laybourn and Betty Laybourn; cousins: Louise Schoenfelder and Robert Laybourn, Jr.
Masks are required to attend the Mass.
Funeral Mass: 2 pm Saturday, January 22, 2022, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Fargo.
Interment: St. Stephen’s Memory Garden later in the spring.
