Diane Kleven

Diane Marie Kleven, age 73, of West Fargo, ND, died Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

She was born on March 3rd, 1949, to Ellsworth and Betty (Sorset) LaCoe in Glenwood, MN. Diane grew up in Harvey, ND and graduated from Harvey High School in 1967. From there she attended Interstate Business College until 1968, followed by careers at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 16 years and with the West Fargo School District for 20 years.

Diane was wed to Ronald Kleven on February 12, 1977, in Harvey, ND and raised their three children in West Fargo. Friends and family were very important to Diane. She enjoyed planning fun family gatherings and events. Some of her favorite things to do were reading, boating, camping, visiting casinos in Bismarck and Hankinson, as well as traveling to various locations in the US, with a couple of trips abroad.  Diane was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7564,  and did a great deal of work with Partners in Policy Making, advocating on behalf of people with special needs.

Diane is survived by her husband Ronald Kleven; daughter Breanna (Aaron) Cohen, Fargo; sons Joel and Jared, West Fargo; sisters Cheryl Pellett, Mesa, AZ, Barb (Don) Grad, Searcy, AR, Debra (Dean) Hieb, Mandan, Patti (Paul) Graumann, Sioux Falls, SD; her brother, Keith LaCoe (Peggy Schacher), Bismarck; two grandchildren Drew and Jack Cohen, Fargo; uncle Denny (Valta) LaCoe, Oregon; aunt Carol (Arne) Stoen, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Elaine Zarr, Bismarck, Laura (Duane) Erickson, Jamestown and Marilyn Slaughter, Medina. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Ellsworth and Betty LaCoe, nephews Nathan Grad and Scott Hieb, brother-in-law Gary Pellett; mother-in-law and father in-law Ileen and Irvin Kleven.

Service:   Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 2pm in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, with Visitation held one hour prior to her service.

Interment:   Spring 2023
