Delmar Ruff

Delmar D. Ruff, age 72 of Fargo, ND, died Monday, December 31, 2018, the result of an auto accident south of Fargo, ND.

Delmar was born on October 18, 1946 in Kulm, North Dakota to Reinhold and Emily (Lux) Ruff. He grew up in Ashley, ND where he graduated from high school. Following graduation he served in the US Air Force until he was discharged to return and help at the family farm following his father’s death. He also worked as a manager at the Coop in Ashley. He married Frances Raile in Wahpeton, ND in May of 1971. They lived in Emerado, ND for 6 months where Delmar worked for Holsum Bakery. They then moved to Fargo where he worked as a supervisor for the city of Fargo’s Sanitation Department. He enjoyed his job and was respected by the people he worked with.

Delmar was an avid football fan, especially the Bison and Vikings and enjoyed attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events. He was also a long-time New York Yankees fan and was able to fulfill a dream of attending a game at Yankee Stadium in New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allen.

Delmar is survived by his wife, Fran of Fargo; children, Monte (Shelly) Fernandez of Sioux Falls, SD, Devonno (Teri) Heupel of West Fargo, ND, Lindell (Brenda) Heupel of West Fargo, ND, Del Ruff of Fargo, ND and Trudy Ruff of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Tyler Fernandez, Sam Fernandez, Jacob Fernandez, Lance Littke, Ty (Rochelle) Kramlich, Adam Heupel, Caleb Heupel, Housten Visto, Matthew Heupel, MiKayla Heupel, Samantha Heupel and Emily Visto; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Dallas, Harmony and Jameson and his sister, Joyce (Paul) Goehring of Ashley, ND.

Visitation:     Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Prayer Service:      Thursday at 7 pm at the church.

Funeral Service:        Friday, January 4 at 11 am at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moorhead.

Interment:      Holy Cross South Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
