David Havelange Obituary

David Michael Havelange, 64, West Fargo, North Dakota died unexpectedly on Monday, November 23rd, 2020, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Dave was born February 23rd, 1956 in Fargo, ND to Donald and Delores (Pfingsten) Havelange. Dave grew up on a farm near Erie, ND and graduated in 1975 from Dakota High School in Arthur, ND. After graduation he moved to Fargo, ND and worked for Steiger Tractor. On April 23, 1977 Dave married Mary Kay (Herrick) in Fargo ND. Dave and Mary moved to a farm near Wheatland, ND, where he was employed for many years. This is where they started their family of two beautiful and loving daughters Sarah and Amanda and one very caring and thoughtful son Brian. In 1986, Dave and Mary moved to West Fargo where Dave worked for Schwan's Sales and became many customers favorite "Schwan's Man". After leaving Schwan's, Dave continued with his gift of gab and sales for many years selling farming equipment at RDO in Casselton, then for Dick Hansen's farm sales until he retired in 2016.

Upon retiring Dave was able to enjoy the good life! He enjoyed traveling around the country and spending time with his friends and family. He looked forward to spending the summers with his lake family, going fishing and enjoyed his pontoon. Deer hunting and watching Vikings football games were also some of his favorite things. Dave always was there to lend a helping hand and was affectionately known by many as “Uncle Dave”, and as "Papa" by his grandchildren. His smile, boisterous laugh and wonderful bear hugs will be remembered by everyone he met.

Dave is survived by his father Donald Havelange; his children Sarah (Jamie) Fredrickson, Amanda Lynn, and Brian (fiancé Alma Rosa); his girlfriend Wendy Royal, his siblings; Donna (Lynn) Mickelson, Donald "Butch" (Cathy), Debbie (Gordy) Fischer, and Dion (Lesly); his grandchildren Aliyah, JayAuna, Erika, Aurora, Miguel, Larayah, Emely, Devin, and Elizabeth; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dave was welcomed into heaven by his mother Delores who was known by many as "Mother Goose"; paternal grandparents Michael and Lena Havelange; maternal grandparents William and Dorothy Pfingsten and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
