Chad "The Hez" Hesby Obituary

Chad “The Hez” Hesby

Chad Allen Hesby, age 49, died unexpectedly on May 14 in his home in Kindred, North Dakota.

Chad, the son of Debra Dahl and Bruce Hesby, was born in Fargo, North Dakota on January 26, 1974. He was raised with his siblings in West Fargo and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1992. A talented artist, Chad was named “Artist of the Year” in high school. He was known as “The Hez” and had a fond family nickname as “Oots.” After high school, Chad completed some college at Moorhead State Community and Technical College before entering the restaurant industry as a cook and manager. In 2002, his daughter, Bryndyn, was born. Bryn was his pride and joy, and he frequently shared that she was his best decision in life. Chad met his life partner, Misty, in 2010, and they lived together in Kindred. They enjoyed camping, attending sporting events, gardening, and cooking together.

Chad worked for many years as a machine operator for Trail King and more recently, at Superior Grain Equipment in Kindred. In his spare time, he loved to watch horror movies, eat popcorn and peanut M & Ms, and spend time with his pets. He had a great appreciation for food and could eat significant amounts of it. Since a young age, Chad was an avid football fan and loved his Dallas Cowboys. Music was meaningful to him, especially heavy metal, and he was known for his love of Sasquatch, which he and his daughter painted on his garage in Kindred. In his free time in the summer, he was known for his gardening and homemade salsa, and he loved a good summer fire.

Chad is survived by his daughter, Bryndyn, his life partner, Misty Torres, and her sons, Zac & Zane, his mother, Debra Dahl, his sister, Tami Braaten (Tony), his brother, Robert Hesby (Mindy), his sister, Bree Langemo (Joe), his stepbrother, Brandon Dahl (Andrea), his sister, Libbi Adair (Josh), his nephew, Nicholas Krejce, his niece, Bobbi Hoffmann, his nephew, Jordan Braaten, his niece, Shae Wolters, his nephew, Colby Hesby, his nephew, Reece Dahl, and his nephew, Zeke Langemo, who shared his birth date and middle name. Chad liked to call Zeke his “twinsie.” He is also survived by his cats, Lucifer (Big Fats) and Oscar.

Chad was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Hesby, his stepfather, Dwight Dahl, his grandfather, Francis Mikula, his grandmother, Vivian Mikula, his grandfather, Morris Hesby, his grandmother, Jean Hesby, and his dogs Ozzy & Morgan.
