Brenda Kay Kartes

Brenda Kay Kartes, 32, was born in Little Falls, MN on Nov. 17, 1986. She went missing on July 12, 2018 at the age of 31 and was found on Aug. 22, 2019.

Brenda lived in Little Falls, MN, Wahpeton, ND, Mandan, ND and in 3rd grade Mapleton, ND. Brenda attended Mapleton Elementary, West Fargo Middle and High School and graduated in 2005. She received her CNA in 2005 and started working in nursing homes with the elderly. This was her greatest passion and love. She treated them like they were all her grandparents.

Brenda loved rollerblading, running, biking, singing, dancing and going for walks outside so she could be with nature. She loved to crochet, write poetry, sketch, draw, read books and her faith in God. Brenda was full of life. She loved to put a smile on people’s faces and cheer them up. Family meant the world to Brenda. Her late night pizza requests are truly missed. Brenda will always be remembered for her larger than life bubbly personality. Her beautiful smile, big hugs and “love ya” will always be in our hearts and missed.

She is survived by her parents, Dale and Lynn (Fussy) Kartes; sister, Danielle (Mark) Rueckert; grandparents, Frank and Karen Fussy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Verna Kartes, along with uncles, aunts and some close childhood friends. 

Funeral will be Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at 2 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo with visitation from 12 to 2 PM.
