Betty Eaton Obituary

Betty Joann (Rattenborg) Eaton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at the age of 87 surrounded by family and the caring staff of Sanford Health.

Betty was born in Exira, Iowa to Ruby and Willads Rattenborg on November 11, 1931. She lived in Exira and Audubon, Iowa. She met Halver “Bill” Eaton when she was attending Audubon Iowa School. She asked him to walk her home one night after band practice and the rest is history. Betty graduated from Audubon High School. She attended business school in Omaha while waiting for Bill to graduate. Once Bill had graduated they were married October 28, 1951, in Audubon. They raised three children together.

Betty enjoyed music and played the clarinet during high school and could play the piano. She also enjoyed camping with Bill even in her later years while residing in Arizona. Betty worked her whole life at various jobs but especially enjoyed her job as a cardiologist secretary in Phoenix, Arizona during during the time they resided there. Betty especially loved her residence in Phoenix and had numerous friends. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend who will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Betty is survived by her husband, Halver “Bill”, brother Charles (Doris) Rattenborg, sister-in-law Iris Rattenborg, daughters: Sue (Mike) Cleary and Theresa (Gary) Sibben and son David. Other survivors include her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold.

Interment will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Sun City, Arizona at a future date.

Special thanks to the nurses, doctor, and minister of Sanford Health for the way they treated Betty and her family.
