Steven Peterson, 54, of Fargo, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at his home.
Steven Dale was the first born son of Donald and Doris, born on February 26, 1964, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fargo. He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo. Steve graduated from West Fargo High School with honor in 1982. He was a swimmer beginning with the AAU program and swam with the first Packer swim team West Fargo ever had. Many a summer weekend was spent on the road with family at swim meets. Steven graduated from NDSU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Steve was a very private person. Being quiet and reserved, he did not carry his emotions on his sleeve. His family knew that he cared for them more than most anyone. Steve’s work ethic ran in the family. Much like his Dad, he approached each task with a goal in mind of doing whatever it takes to finish what you start and do it well. In 1982, Steve began working at Nine Dragons Restaurant as a dishwasher while going to college. Over the years, he became a partner and co-owner. Many parties and gatherings were held at the restaurant. We had him create a menu as he knew best. When his parents came in, it was a sign that he hadn’t been home in a while. In later years, it was their place to go after church on Saturday night. They ordered the same thing and when the order came in, Steve could guess we were there. He left the restaurant in 2018 with another goal in mind of trying something new.
When he bought his own home, Steve made a space in his heart for a purebred Labrador and over the years had three. One, Viggo, survives.
Steve is survived by his mother: Doris, West Fargo; sister: Lori (Steven) Martel, Green Valley, AZ; nephews: Brett (Courtney Schmidt and Kensley) and great-niece, Devyn Lee Martel; Jared (Samantha) Martel all of Fargo and Travis Martel of Tucson, AZ.
Steve was preceded in death by his father: Donald in 2017; brother: Paul in 2013; grandparents: Carl and Christine Peterson and Martin and Agnes Odden.
Memorials in Steve’s name can be directed to your local animal shelter or charity of your choosing.
He will be remembered by his family for the care and comfort he was to his Mom when his father passed. The word Godsend comes to mind. Our lives will go on without him, nothing will be the same. Sad are the hearts that loved him. Silent are the tears that fall. Living without him will be the hardest part of all. Thank you, Steve, for being a part of our lives.
