Lorraine (Svare) Murray

Lorraine Murray, 84, West Fargo, ND, died on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 in her home.

Doris Lorraine Svare was born Apr. 27, 1935 in Pelican Rapids, MN to John Oliver and Hanseena (Peterson) Svare.  She grew up on a farm near Pelican Rapids and graduated from high school there.  Following high school, she attended the Wahpeton State School of Science and became an L.P.N., working at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo.

In 1957, Lorraine married William Connelly, and they made their home in Des Moines, IA, later moving to Cheyenne, WY, where she worked in a nursing home.

Lorraine years later married Roy Murray, and they made their homes in Cheyenne, WY, Erhard, MN, and Fergus Falls, MN.  She cared for Roy through his illness prior to his passing in 2004, at which time she moved to Fargo.  She had been living with her daughter, Terri for the past five years.

Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was always willing to lend a hand or a kind word. Throughout her life, she enjoyed reading, shopping-especially for shoes, and she greatly valued time spent visiting with her family.

She is survived by her children, Sheila (Hussein) Weled, Henderson, NV, Terri (Daniel) Leal, Fargo, Debra Connelly, West Fargo, and Michael (Barbara) Connelly, Elmo Lake, MN; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, John Oliver and Hanseena Svare; husband, Roy Murray; two brothers, Wallace and Harley Svare; and five sisters, Marion Johnson, Phyllis Bigner, Patricia Lindsay, Shirley Pepmeier, and infant Lillian Svare.

Funeral:  Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in West Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Bethel Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN
