Laurie Hanson

Laurie Hanson, of Arthur, ND, passed away at home surrounded by family, on the morning of June 30^th, 2018, at the age of 53.

Laurie Beth Petersen was born on November 9^th, 1964, to Larry and Nina (Heyne) Petersen in Mason City, IA, and was joined later by a brother and a sister.  She grew up on a farm outside of Clear Lake, IA, where she attended school and graduated in 1983. Laurie attended The Fashion and Art Institute of Omaha, NE, and graduated in 1984. Laurie started working at Younkers Department Store in 1984 and retired from there in 2014. She then worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Arthur, ND, from 2014 until 2016 when she became sick.

Laurie enjoyed riding motorcycle with her husband, gardening, being with her animals, sitting in her backyard by the bonfire, listening to music, and baking. She enjoyed being with her granddaughter and spoiling her, helping anyone she could, and most of all spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Todd Hanson, of 21 years. They were united in marriage on June 8^th, 1997.  Laurie is also lovingly remembered by her father: Larry Petersen, Mesa, AZ;  children Shawn Skadburg (Claire Jansson) of Long Beach, CA; Valerie Shaw (Andrew Swanson) of Omaha, NE, and Bradley Hanson (Kristen Allen) of Atlanta, GA; Granddaughter: Amaya Shaw, of Omaha, NE; her brother Robert Petersen (Susan) of Rockwell, IA; her sister: Sonya Chitty (Jeff) of Clear Lake, IA; Nieces and Nephews: Joshua Clark, Des Moines, IA, Chrystin Clark, Colfax, IA, Breckie Clark, Altoona, IA; and many more nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

Laurie is preceded in death by her mother, Nina Petersen; Grandparents, Helmuth and Elizabeth Heyne; Edward and Renelda Petersen and Aunt Linda O’Brian.

Visitation:   5PM – 7PM Monday, July 2, 2018. With a Prayer Service at 7PM, all in St. John Lutheran Church, Arthur, ND

Funeral:   Tuesday at 10:30AM in St. John Lutheran, Arthur.

Burial:  Will be in Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell, Iowa
