Jenny Montgomery

Jenny Marjorie (Engstrom) Montgomery, a long-time resident of West Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, January 10th, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead MN. Jenny was 95 years old.  She was born to immigrant parents on February 19, 1923 in rural McHenry N.D to Hokan Engstrom (Sweden) and Johanna Hanson (Norway), the youngest of one brother and 2 sisters.

Jenny grew up in McHenry N.D., attended McHenry H.S. graduating with honors in 1941.She then went to Dakota Business College in Fargo and worked for Central Livestock Association in West Fargo for 20 years, where she met her future husband, John “Jack” Montgomery. She and Jack married on August 16, 1950, in Beresford, S.D. and welcomed their first and only son, Lynn D. Montgomery on March 5, 1957. Jenny and Jack were happily married and lived in West Fargo for over 50 years.

Jenny loved music and singing. She always said she learned to sing before she talked. She was passionate about the color pink and luckily married a very understanding man. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, dancing, and her house. She was very fashionable and loved making her clothes sparkle. She and Jack loved traveling to the 57th bomb wing reunions held all over the country together. Her grandkids and great grandkids were the light of her life and loved them more than anything. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her granddaughter, Lacy Halvorson (Montgomery) and husband Derek, and their 5 children, Hakan, Adeline, Ames, Oren and Evelyn, Elko New Market, MN, granddaughters, Alyssa Montgomery, Grand Forks, ND and Samantha Dick, Shoreview, MN, grandsons, Dustin and Jack Montgomery, Missoula, MT; sister-in-law, Corinne Engstrom, Sioux Falls, SD; nephew, Wayne Engstrom and wife Margaret, Eagan, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Evelyn and Anna; brother, Harold; beloved husband, Jack Montgomery, and dear son, Lynn Montgomery.

Funeral Service:     Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10 am at West Funeral Home Chapel,West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment:      Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, ND.
