Geneva Anderson

Geneva Anderson was born at home on March 7, 1936 in rural Northwood, North Dakota to Silas and Gladys (Soderberg) Johnson.  She lived there until 1938 when her family moved to rural McCanna, ND.  She attended first grade through the middle of third grade in a one room school in rural McCanna. They later moved back to rural Northwood, ND where she attended the Logan Center School.  Throughout her school years she enjoyed participating in the 4H Club. 

On July 10th, 1953 she married LeRoy Anderson from Northwood, ND.   LeRoy and Geneva farmed in the Grace Township until 1969 when they moved to Northwood and later to Hatton, ND.  In 1974, they moved to Grand Forks until they retired in September 1999.  In November 2004, they moved to Alexandria, MN.  Geneva was a 4H Club leader, and for several years worked in various capacities but she most enjoyed her role as homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Geneva enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and entertaining friends and family.  One of her favorite activities was playing card games..  Some of her favorite places to be were in church, visiting her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and traveling throughout the United States.    

Geneva lost her battle with cancer on 29 May 2019 at her home in Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by her family members.  She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Fairbanks and husband Craig of Sioux Falls, SD; Roberta Lerfald and husband Darrell (Buck) of Fargo, ND; son-in-law Kim Lykken of St. Cloud, MN; her two sons, Dean of Gold Canyon, AZ; Darren and wife Lisa of Gilbert, AZ.  Grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) Clark; Corey Fairbanks; Shea Lykken; Travis Lykken; Ericka Mlnarik; Kristin (Casey) Lindgren; Tyson Lerfald; Nils Lerfald; Jonathan Anderson; Elizabeth Jackson; Jacquelyn Anderson; and Sydney Anderson; 13 great grandchildren; sister (Adeline) and brother (Ervin).  She is preceded in death by her parents Silas and Gladys Johnson, husband LeRoy, daughter Rhonda Lykken; grandson Spencer Anderson; and great grandson Jacob Lykken.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the American Cancer Society.

Visitation:  5pm-7:30pm Friday, May 31, 2019, with a Prayer Service held at 6PM, all in West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center, West Fargo.

Funeral Service:  10AM Saturday, June 1, 2019, in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, West Fargo.

Burial:   Memorial Park South, Grand Forks, ND
