Eleanor Punton, 86, of Fargo, formerly of Ayr, ND, died Monday, October 15, 2018, at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo surrounded by her family.
Eleanor Mae Kingsley was born January 24, 1932 to Walter and Roxy (Brace) Kingsley. She grew up on the family farm outside of Wheatland ND. She attended school in Wheatland and 1 year in beloved McMinville OR. She was united in marriage to Arthur Punton on January 6, 1952. They made their home and raised their family in Ayr, ND. They were members of the Presbyterian Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church both in Ayr. Arthur passed away May 14, 2006.
Eleanor was gracious, kind, generous and lived to serve others, She worked hard and tirelessly along side the love of her life, Arthur, with the family farming. She was actively involved with the church, school, birthday club and community. She enjoyed volunteer work at the Good Samaritan Center in Arthur and Bethany on University in Fargo. She was an avid gardener, canner, baker and quilter. She loved sharing whatever she made with family and friends. In her later years of life she was known for mowing literally half of the town of Ayr. She took great pride and joy in keeping the town looking well kept. As hard as she worked, she always looked forward to a little break with a good cup of coffee and a card game with family and friends. Eleanor and Arthur loved taking bus tours and camping with family. She was a kid at heart; she wouldn’t hesitate to jump on the snowmobile, four wheeler or jetski! Her greatest passion was being a wife, mom, grandma, great grandma and most recently a great-great-grandma. There was not anything she wouldn’t do to help out, in any way she could. Everyone loved spending time at Grandma and Grandpa Ayr!
In 2011, Eleanor moved to Bethany on 42nd. She always made the best of life’s circumstances saying “what will be, will be!” She continued to serve others even as a resident. She liked pushing her wheelchair bound friends to church, to get their hair fixed or outside to enjoy the day! Thank you to all of the former and current staff at Bethany on 42. Mom truly felt at home and we are forever grateful for the loving, compassionate and gentle care you gave her.
Grateful for her unconditional love and positive example of living life is her son: Ron (Candace) Punton, Ayr, daughters: Jean (Ray) Norgard, Kindred, Roxi (Tom) Bresnahan, Casselton and Lori (Bob) Satrom, Ayr, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Arthur; granddaughter: Jamie Satrom; great- grandson; Preston Heuer; grandson in-law: Steve Moen; brother: Truman Kingsley and sister: Ruth Anderson.
