Edvina Catherine Hill, 87, died Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Edgewood in Fargo. She was born on July 1, 1932 to Peter and Verena Hersch in Raleigh, ND. The family moved to the Arthur area and Edvina grew up on the family farm west of Arthur. She attended country school by Arthur. She met the love of her life, Gale E. Hill, and they were united in marriage at St. Leo’s Church in Casselton, ND on July 26, 1952. They resided in Arthur for over 60 years where they raised their three children, Linda, Kathy and Jim. Edvina’s number one priority was always her family and she gave us the greatest gift – unconditional love. You would always find her kitchen counters filled with freshly baked cookies, homemade caramel rolls or buns and the coffee pot was always on. She was active in the Arthur Methodist Church Women’s Group, Arthur Auxiliary, taught Sunday School at the Arthur Methodist Church, and would assist in cooking in the Arthur school kitchen. Her seven grandchildren were the joy of her life and they were always ready to have sleepovers at Grandma Arthur’s home. Gale passed away in August of 2002. Edvina continued to live in Arthur until May of 2018 when she moved to Edgewood in Fargo.
Edvina is survived by her three children, Linda (David) Hove, West Fargo, Kathy Hill Wold of Fargo and Jim (Suzie) Hill of Arthur; seven grandchildren, Nathan Hove, Arthur, ND, Seth (Amber) Hove, Minnetonka, MN, Miranda Jansson of Menahga, MN, Sheyenne Hill (fiancé Jordan Risher), Savanna Hill, Colton (Michaela) Hill and Ethan Wold all of Fargo. Seven great children and another to join us in March.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale; parents, Peter and Verena Hersch; two brothers, Duane and Lambert Hersch; one sister, Elaine Pikar; and son-in-law Chad Wold.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Edgewood Fargo and Hospice of the Red River Valley in the care of our mother. Memorials preferred to the Arthur Methodist Church, Arthur Cemetery Fund or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
