Dennis Muldoon Obituary

Dennis James Muldoon

Nov. 28, 1967 - Oct. 27, 2018

FARGO, N.D. - Dennis James Muldoon, 50, was born Nov. 28, 1967, the son of Dennis Rae and Patricia (Johnson) Muldoon in Linton, N.D.

Dennis died at his home on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, with his wife by his side.

Dennis was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church.

When he was 1 year old, Dennis moved with his family to West Fargo and lived there until 2010.  Dennis attended West Fargo Public Schools, graduating in 1986. While in school, Dennis played football and wrestled for the Packers.

After graduating from high school, Dennis enrolled at North Dakota State University in the civil engineering program and played football for the Bison.

After college, Dennis went to work as a short order cook for the Highway Host in West Fargo.  Following that he worked for the Mutual Group as a computer technician and worked at PepsiCo and SuperValu in their warehouses as a picker.  In 2001, Dennis continued his warehouse distribution career for 15 years at SpartanNash where he held various positions.  Lastly being part of the inventory control supervising team.

In 2016, Dennis transferred back to PepsiCo in Fargo, where he became their inventory control supervisor.  Dennis always took great pride in his work and made sure he was always there for his work families.

On June 1, 1999, Dennis’s daughter Peyton Muldoon was born in Fargo. When she was born, she became Dennis’s world. She was always his #1.  He enjoyed attending Peyton’s musical and theater performances while she attended public schools in West Fargo and later South Fargo. He was an extremely proud dad when she was accepted into Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

Dennis met Melissa Gudvangen on April 10, 2010 and they were married on July 25, 2015.

He and Missy made their home in south Fargo, where they lived with Peyton, and his stepsons Garrett and Carter.

Dennis loved the boys as if they were his biological sons. He loved attending their sporting events, and there was probably a number of referees who knew of his presence on the field and on the court too.  Dennis was proud to share his sports experience with Garrett and Carter to give them “tips” to make their game better; even if they didn’t want to hear it, he shared it!

Dennis was a diehard sports fan, with his first love being the Chicago Cubs. A story that could be heard over and over was him making the pilgrimage to Cubs spring training in Arizona. Dennis was a fan of all Minnesota professional and collegiate teams, including the Twins, Vikings, the Wild, Timberwolves and Gophers. He also held a lifelong place in his heart for his beloved Bison.

In his spare time, Dennis loved to golf, and he was willing to golf whether it was raining or snowing, hot or cold. He was famous for noting that, “If it’s nice enough to mow lawn, it’s nice enough to golf! That’s what the contract says!”

Dennis’s love for family and friends was apparent.  He always had a smile on his face and open arms to give you a hug. Dennis will be known for his infectious sense of humor, and also for never being short on stories. No on is really sure if “Russ Opdahl” exists, but we have heard a lot about him!  In Dennis’s book, there were no strangers. He could and would chat up anyone he came in contact with, and they never left the conversation bored. He will always and forever be known for his humor and friendly manner. Dennis’s favorite line was “I am a fungi and I don’t even like mushrooms!”

He survived by his wife, Missy of Fargo; his daughter, Peyton, of Moorhead; his two stepsons, Garrett Brooks (and special friend Anna Steinwand) of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Carter Brooks of Fargo; his mother, Patricia, of West Fargo; his sister, Mary (John) Swanson, of Omaha, Neb.; his niece, Megan Cooper, also of Omaha; his great-niece, Cayden Jones, of Fargo; his great-nephew, Rohen Cooper; other relatives; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by infant step-son, Brody; infant step-daughter, Kelsey; his father, Dennis Rae; all of his grandparents; nephew, Adam Cooper; and Missy’s mom Connie Gudvangen of Fertile, Minn.,
