Carolyn Brown Obituary

Carolyn D. Brown, 90, of West Fargo, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019, at Maple View Memory Care in Fargo.

Carolyn D. Brown was born in Monroe County, Iowa on November 16, 1929 to Albertha (Day) and Dewey Cleair. She was the second of six children. She grew up on farms in the Attica, Iowa area and graduated from high school there. After high school she attended one year of college in Indianola, Iowa. It was at that time she met her future husband, Frank, on a blind date. They were joined in marriage on August 15, 1948 in Attica, Iowa. They were happily married for over 60 years until Frank went to be with the Lord in March, 2009.They had four sons and seven grandchildren. They lived in several states and towns in the midwest, but West Fargo was where they returned in retirement in order to be close to what they considered their Home church, Meadow Ridge Bible Chapel.

Carolyn trusted Christ as her Savior as a child and enjoyed a personal relationship with Him throughout her life. It was in West Fargo that this relationship blossomed, especially after Frank trusted in Christ too. The Lord did a wonderful work in and through them. For many years they enjoyed opening their home to those in need. Carolyn was an excellent cook and baker. She used these skills at home but also enjoyed working in the kitchen at Story Book Lodge Christian camp. She, like Dorcas of the Bible, enjoyed making clothing and knitting and crocheting. How many baby blankets, sweaters and wedding afghans she made and gave away would be interesting to know.

Frank and Carolyn often visited their son and daughter-in-law in Bolivia, SA where they quickly endeared themselves to the Bolivian people through their acts of loving kindness. They first visited to see their grandson, David, but when they left a few weeks later they had three adopted “granddaughters”, Lidia, Benita and Lucy Padilla. Who knows how many other such adopted kids and grandkids they made? Carolyn continued to visit Bolivia even after Frank’s passing and supported mission work there until her final days.

Carolyn suffered from Alzheimers disease and after many good years living with Kevin and Elaine she was placed into Maple View Memory Care facility in Fargo, ND where she was lovingly cared for until her passing. On Friday, December 13, a little after noon she took her last breath here and awoke in new life in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carolyn is survived by her sons; Jerry, Jim (Mary), John, Kevin (Elaine) sisters Beverly, Ruth and Linda (Kenny) and brother, Marvin (Carolyn) Seven grandchildren; Jason, Amber (Shawn), David, TJ, Mike (Sarah), Jesse and Danny (Kara) and three great granddaughters; Ava, Addy and Anna.

The Brown family hopes that you too might know the same peace and confidence in knowing

Jesus Christ that we do. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
