Glenn Pfingsten

Glenn E. Pfingsten, 78, Embden, ND, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Glenn Elwood Pfingsten was born July 4, 1938, on the family farm in Gill Township, rural Chaffee, ND, the son of August Sr. & Freida (Schobinger) Pfingsten. His mother passed away a short time after his birth and aunt Kathryn Pfingsten then assisted in caring for him.  Glenn attended East Gill country school, Wheatland High School and graduated in 1957 from Chaffee High School.  He assisted on the farm and was hired by Edgar Discher at the Embden Grain Elevator before graduation.  The elevator became Glenn’s life and with friends, later purchased the Embden Elevator.   Glenn was active in the business until  selling and retiring in 2013.  He had spent the last 17 winters in Arizona. 

He loved golf, tending his yard and flower garden, but most of all spending time with his family.  Glenn was confirmed and a life member of St. John Lutheran Church in Embden.

Left to share in his memory are his siblings:  Evelyn Kuder of Renton, WA,  August (Marlys) Pfingsten of Leonard,  LeRoy (Arlis) Pfingsten of Casselton;  half-sisters:  Lillian (Paul) Reinhardt of Bismarck and Lois (Leon) Byland of Moorhead; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  August Sr. & Freida;  siblings:  Lillian Pfingsten,  Dorothy Booth,  Gordon Pfingsten,  Gladys Wallace and Orville Pfingsten.

Visitation  5 to 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. Prayer Service  Sunday, May 21, 2017 at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.

Funeral  11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Embden, ND.
