Clayton E. Runck, Jr., 85, of Fargo, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Clayton Elwood Runck, Jr. was born May 5, 1932 in Fargo, ND to Clayton Runck Sr. and Elfie Piper.  He was raised in the Davenport, ND area, attended rural school and graduated in 1949 from Central Cass High School.   Clayton began farming at age fifteen.  He also owned and operated the John Deere dealership in Wyndmere, ND and later constructed commercial buildings in Fargo and West Fargo.  Clayton and Madelyne “Pat” Ries were married September 29, 1956 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Alice, ND.

Clayton was a member of the Canaan Moravian Church.  In earlier years, Clayton and Pat enjoyed dancing and being at the lake.  More recently, he enjoyed winters in Florida and going to auctions and flea markets.

Surviving are his wife: Pat;  children:  Lannie (Ann) Runck of Detroit Lakes, MN,  Craig (Wanda) Runck of Mapleton, ND,  Kimberly (Dave) Voltz of Eden Prairie, MN and Darlene (fiancé, Keith) Pich of Fargo; eleven grandchildren:  Kaela (Andrew) Murphy,  Taryn (Jamison) Tessneer,  McCall (Adam) Dunn,  Derek (Lindsey) Runck,  Brandon (Chelsey) Runck,  Desirae (Grant) Anderson,  Katelyn Runck,  Nicole Voltz,  Haley Voltz, Tyler Pich & Samantha Pich.;  10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law:  Marvin (Philomena) Ries of Alice, ND.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents.

The family is grateful for the care Clayton received from Hospice of the Red River Valley and requests memorials be given to Hospice.

Visitation:  4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017, followed by a 6 p.m. Prayer Service at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.

Funeral:  11 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017, at Canaan Moravian Church, Davenport, ND.
