William Waxler Obituary

William “Bill” Joseph Waxler, 73, Fargo, ND passed away Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at home with his daughter after a long-fought battle with cancer.
Bill was born on November 16th, 1952 in Fargo, ND to Florence (Tostenson) and Fay Waxler. He was the youngest of 4 children that grew up together in Mapleton, ND. Growing up on a farm, Bill began his journey into the workforce at an early age. Initially he worked on the family farm, laying the foundation for Bill’s strong and relentless work ethic.
Bill explored various occupations throughout his life. He started out at a gas station before venturing into construction, specializing in assembling grain elevators. After gaining much experience in the construction industry he made a career shift into truck driving. Initially Bill operated a truck wrecker business before becoming a long-haul semi-truck driver for many years.
Bill’s journey in life took a new direction when he married Suzann Thompson in June 1981 and relocated to western North Dakota to work in the oil patch. There he hauled heavy equipment, worked on drilling rigs, and worked over rigs, adapting to the demands of the oil industry. However, as the oil fields slowed down Bill returned to over-the-road trucking before eventually moving to local trucking routes. Bill and Sue were divorced in 1992. About 20 years later Bill married his high school sweetheart Linda Larson.
Unfortunately, Bill faced challenges when he suffered a debilitating back injury, forcing him to take time off of work. Despite the setback, Bill eventually recovered and found employment in the construction and drywall business, demonstrating his resilience in the face of adversity.
Life took another unexpected turn for Bill when he was involved in a car accident, leading to further years of recovery before eventually requiring him to become totally disabled.
Throughout his life Bill found joy and fulfillment in the company of his daughter Crystal and his son Cody as well as his extended family of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Despite both of Bills divorces he remained good friends with both of his ex wife’s. Bill’s friends weren’t really friends they were all more like family and he would have given the shirt off his back for each and every one of them.
Bill is preceded in death by his father Fay Waxler; mother Florence Tostenson; Great Uncle George Waxler.
Bill is survived by his daughter Crystal (Craig) Martin Fargo, ND; son Cody (Acacia) Waxler Fargo, ND; step-children Lindsey Miller, and Alex McKinnon; sister Carol (Chip) Gibson Colorado Springs, CO; brothers Thomas Waxler Douglasville, GA; Rick (Diane) Waxler Mapleton, ND; Seven grandchildren, Eli Waxler, Destiny Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Tenley Grosz, Bailee Grosz, Connor Bala and Kingsley Waxler.
He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
