Wayne Freedland

Wayne D. Freedland, 89, of Harwood, ND, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Heather’s House in Fargo.

Wayne Delano Freedland was born January 17, 1937, in McVille, ND, and was raised in Langdon, ND until the age of 9. The family moved to Harwood, ND in 1946. He graduated from high school and attended NDSU.  He served in the US Army at Ft. Baker in San Francisco, CA and in the Reserves. He returned to Fargo, ND after being honorably discharged.

Wayne married Luana Engebretson on November 4, 1967, in Hatton, ND. Wayne farmed, did custom combining, and had semi’s that operated regionally and across 48 states. He later built and operated the convenience store in Harwood, and after retiring from farming drove semi for Magnum Trucking.  

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and American Legion, Post 297, both of Harwood. He also served on the Harwood Township Board for 40 years with 37 of those years as Chairman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and Bison football.

Wayne is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Luana; and their two children, Paul Freedland and Pam Freedland.

Preceding him in death are his parents, George and Jean (Lien) Freedland, and a sister, Marilyn Wold.

Funeral:  2 pm Monday, August 24, 2026, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.

Visitation:  An hour before the funeral

Burial:  Oakwood Cemetery, Harwood, ND
