Wallace D. Nelson, 86, of Harwood, ND, passed away, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo.
Wally was born October 29, 1934, at Lockhart, MN, the son of Oscar “O. B.” and Hilda (Klindt) Nelson. He was raised near there and graduated from Hendrum, MN high school. Wally was employed as a construction superintendent and worked for J. E. Krieg and Sons in Fargo. Later working and retiring from Meinecke – Johnson Company of Fargo. Wally married Carol Jean Greb on November 6, 1955, in Valley City, ND. They moved to Harwood in the 1960 and couple owned and operated AA Tack Shop for over 30 years. Wally also enjoyed working as an usher and in security at the Fargo Dome. He enjoyed traveling with friends and family including camping trips, attending horse events, cruising, and concerts. Wally was a member of Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Harwood, he was a former 4-H leader, a member of the F-M Mounted Posse, the Red River Valley International Appaloosa Horse Club and the Red River Harness Club.
Surviving are sons: Duane (Lee Ann) of St. Joseph, MI and Rodney (Susan) of Harwood; four grandchildren: Darrin Nelson, Melissa Pratt, Derek Nelson and Benn Nelson; 5 great-grandchildren; sister: Betty Karr of Tacoma, WA, and special friend: Grayce Morse of West Fargo.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Carol; daughter-in-law: Lynnda; brother: Nordal and a sister: Carolyn Dahl.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Maple-Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Harwood, ND
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service, Friday, May 21, 2021, West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
Burial: church cemetery.
