Viola (Vi) Prischmann was called to her heavenly home on September 26, 2025. She was the daughter of Michael and Ida (Dorrheim) Bertsch of rural Burt, North Dakota.
Vi was the middle child (11th) born at the family farm home on May 20, 1927, into a family of 22 children. She was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran faith in which she remained faithful her entire life.
Vi received her education attending a one-room country school through the 8th grade. She remained on the family farm helping her parents with farm and house work and caring for her 10 younger siblings. At the age of 18 she left the farm to seek her own fortune. Vi eventually arrived in Fargo, ND, finding employment with Northern School Supply Co. until her marriage to Arnold A. Prischmann of Casselton, ND. For the next 47 years, Vi and Arnie made their home in Casselton.
She was a busy stay at home mom raising their children, orchestrating the housekeeping, yard work, gardening and cooking all while managing the bookkeeping for her husband’s business. They were faithful members of Martin Lutheran Church where Vi held various offices in Circle and W.D.C. She dedicated 35 years of volunteer work to Oasis and Bethany Home. After retirement, the Prischmanns moved to West Fargo, where Vi made her home for the next 31 years and was a faithful member of Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, 12 brothers and 8 sisters, her husband Arnie and daughter Rachel Olson. Surviving to mourn her passing are her son Robert (Kris) of Alaska, brother Herbert Bertsch of Mattheson, WA, son-in-law Roger Olson of Turtle Lake, MN, great granddaughters Libby and Anna, their parents Tim and Kate Regan of Deephaven, MN and her loving companion Morris Rasmussen, his family Jim (Connie) Rasmussen, John (Jonette) Rasmussen, Bruce (Michelle) Rasmussen, Alexandra (Ethan) Campbell sisters-in-law, Sharon Bertsch of Glen Ullin, ND, Nita Bertsch (LA), nieces and nephews too numerous to mention along with the many friends Vi had at Park Avenue Apartments.
A special thank you to Vi’s Ethos Hospice team, whom she deeply loved, Hannah, Hannah, Deb and Alex, for their loving, supportive and compassionate care, as well as the numerous skilled caregivers at Eventide Retirement Center.
Memorials funds can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Leipzig, ND to maintain the Bertsch Family Cemetery.
Funeral: Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 11 AM at Lutheran Church of the Cross, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Casselton Cemetery.
