Uneva Dobrinz Obituary

The family of Uneva Joyce Dobrinz (Helland) is sad to share that God has called her to be with him in her heavenly home.  She passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in the morning hours of Monday, August 19, 2024 surrounded by the love of her husband Larry, her family, and her friends in the care of the Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, North Dakota

Uneva was a woman with a strong faith, a spirit of joy, a curious mind, an accepting heart, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.  She was born in Fargo, ND and grew up on her parent’s family farm near Argusville, ND and then later moving to near Hendrum, MN where she graduated from High School in 1954.  She graduated from Interstate Business College in Fargo.  She worked as a secretary briefly in California and then back in Fargo for Pioneer Mutual Insurance and 10 years with the NDSU Animal Science Department.  She saved and then sold her car in order to travel through Europe with friends in 1964.  Just before leaving for her trip she went on a blind date that was set by mutual friends where she met her future husband and life-long love, Larry Dobrinz.  Uneva and Larry were married on April 30, 1966 and began a journey together where their love saw them through the trials and triumphs of raising a family and farming on the Dobrinz family farm in rural Mapleton, ND.  There they worked together for over 32 years including 10 years where she also worked at Scherling Photography until their retirement in 1998.  Through the years she was an active member, Elder, and Sunday School teacher at Community Presbyterian Church. She was active in the Farm Bureau, a 4-H parent, and volunteered for the election board and the food pantry.  Uneva was an artist at heart and shared her creativity through drawing, quilting, and card-making.  She was an amazing cook and home-maker. She loved to entertain friends and family with an easy way of making everyone feel welcome and loved.  She was an avid reader and puzzler.  She and Larry loved to camp and travel, especially their time in Branson, MO.

Uneva’s legacy will be the love and perseverance she displayed to others in her life.  She was a leader by example but also had an easy way of passing on her experiences and wisdom to others.  Her graceful presence will be forever missed by her loving family.

Uneva is preceded in death by her Father Jalmer, Mother Anne, and all 5 of her siblings, Mildred, Lester, Kenneth, Bernice, and Robert.  She is survived by her husband Larry, children Susan (Adrian) Kieffer, Lee (Lia), her grandchildren Ethan (Hannah), Sophia, Carlie, Olivia, and Ezra and her great granddaughter Claire (Ethan & Hannah).

A Visitation and Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, August 23rd at Community Presbyterian Church at 702 Sheyenne St in West Fargo, ND.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon and Funeral Services at 2:00 pm.  Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Uneva invites you to share gifts that support Community Presbyterian Church, The Fargo Emergency Food Pantry, the Sanford Dialysis Center, or the National MS Society.
