Thomas Cota

Thomas Cota, 69, of West Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023, at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND. Tom is survived by his wife Pam (Doeden) Cota; daughter Lindsey (Jarrod) Schwab, Son Michael (Lauren Zent); grandchildren Avery, Nora, and Owen; sisters Kathleen Cota (Mary), Lois Holzemer; and brother Dan (Karen) Cota.

Tom was born and raised in Fargo, ND, to Clair and Margaret (Reinart) Cota. Tom graduated from Fargo North High in 1972. He and Pam were married on April 7, 1984, at Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo.  They settled in West Fargo where they raised their children. Tom’s first job was at Burlington Northern Railroad. The majority of his career was with Lavelle Lumber as a forklift operator.

Tom was a man who could fix just about anything. Tom enjoyed tinkering in his garage, grilling and was always finding something to fix. He loved to play and collect guitars. He was a man of many hobbies including riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR and football, remote control cars and fishing on a dock he made himself in the backyard.

Tom was a great man, considered by his family to be the best husband, dad and papa.  His grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be greatly missed. 

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Clair and Margaret Cota; parents-in-law Leroy and Janet Doeden; brother-in-law David (Red) Holzemer and infant sister Elaine.

Celebration of Life Service:  Friday, September 1, 2023, at 4:30 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with visitation from 3-4:30 PM.
