Tammy Jo Sandvig

Tammy Jo Marie Sandvig, 59, of West Fargo, passed away on August 19th, 2026 in the comfort of her home after her courageous battle against cancer. At the time of her passing, Tammy was surrounded by family who meant everything to her. Born June 28, 1967, in Fargo, North Dakota, Tammy spent her life building a legacy rooted in family, service, and caring for others. 

Tammy graduated from West Fargo High School in 1985 and went on to attend Mayville State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 1989. While attending college, Tammy and Brad Sandvig met and later married on October 28, 1989. Tammy and Brad welcomed their first son, John, in 1990 and returned to West Fargo in 1995. Tammy and Brad expanded their family with sons Thomas, in 1996, and Tyler, in 1998. John, Thomas, and Tyler became the center of Tammy’s world. 

Tammy took great pride in caring for and educating children. In 1989, she began working at Great Beginnings Childcare in Moorhead, Minnesota until opening her in-home daycare in 1996. Starting in 2004, Tammy worked at the West Fargo Early Childhood Center as a paraprofessional, focusing her attention to children ages three to five. During those same years, she served her community at Family Fare (Sunmart), where she was a dedicated cashier, customer service representative, and customer service manager. Tammy’s loyalty remained at the Early Childhood Center and Family Fare up until her passing.  

While Tammy portrayed a strong work ethic, her greatest passion was always her family, whom she would do anything for. She was the one who made sure there was always plenty of food at family gatherings, who welcomed everyone around her table, and who found special joy in spoiling her children and grandchildren during the holidays. Tammy especially loved the Fourth of July. Each year, she looked forward to hosting a large celebration filled with family, friends, good food, laughter, and lots of fireworks. Her home was a place where people could always expect to be welcomed with open arms.  

Tammy was the biggest supporter of her son’s activities. She could be found in the stands cheering the loudest at the races, displaying a thumbs up at their football, baseball, basketball, and bowling events, and was a proud member of the Boy Scouts Parent’s Counsel. Tammy extended the same support and passion to her grandchildren and would take her lunch breaks to attend their school or daycare programs. Tammy enjoyed spending time traveling with her family; her favorite trip was when the family went to Alaska for ten days.   

Tammy is survived by her husband, Bradley Sandvig; her sons, John (Jennie) Sandvig, Thomas (Maggie) Sandvig, and Tyler (Jess) Sandvig; her cherished grandchildren, Jaxon, Blake, and Josie; her mother, Olga (Haverluk) Reiter; her siblings, Bruce (Debbie) Reiter, Beverly (Rick) Robotkay, Greg (Patty) Reiter, Darrel (Julie) Reiter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, Louie Reiter; sisters, Shirley Reiter and Kathy (Reiter) Onsum; and her extremely spoiled Cocker Spaniel, Baby Bop. 

Although her absence will leave an immeasurable void, Tammy’s love will continue through her family and all those fortunate to have known her.

Visitation: Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 5:30-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Memorial Service: Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11 AM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour before the service.

Burial: Casselton Cemetery, Casselton, ND.
