Susan Bellon Obituary

Susan Jane Bellon, 73, Mapleton ND passed away unexpectedly on Sunday October 26,2025, at Sanford Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Sue was born in Western Springs, Illinois on March 22, 1952, to George and Ruth (Johnson) Hooper. She met her husband, Scott, through mutual friends on a blind date. They were married on September 4, 1982, in Aurora, CO. They had lived in Apple Valley MN for a while until they moved to Aurora, CO. They were blessed with a daughter named Tara. Sue and Scott lived in Aurora until 1994 when they moved to Mapleton ND to be closer to family. Even though they moved from Colorado, she had some very good friends that she still talked to.

Sue was a hard worker and worked at a variety of jobs including NDSU, where she worked in Counseling and Disability Services and worked there for 10 years and loved working with the people. Sue also worked at IC Systems in Fargo. She then started working at Gordy’s in Mapleton and loved working there, interacting with all the people and worked there until she retired. Susan was a loving, caring and always outgoing with everyone. She would talk to anyone.

Some of the things she loved doing were going out to eat with her friends at Randy’s Too, Red Lobster or Chinese. Sue would go once a month to get her nails done with her friends and her daughter. Sus loved going on little day trips with her daughter, Tara. They would go to those little towns and explore, also going  to state parks to admire nature’s beauty. Her favorite places to visit were Bald Hill Dam in Valley City ND and Brainerd MN. Sue also loved going and watching the northern lights with her daughter. Sue and Tara went everywhere together. She had a granddaughter that she loved and cherished very much. Her granddaughter was in dance and Sue was at all the dance competitions. Sue went to Medora ND with some of her friends and her granddaughter. Her granddaughter got her to go ziplining for the second time in her life. The first time had been in Nisswa, MN; with Tara when she was 67 years old and loved it. Sue and her granddaughter would go on little get togethers to go eat and shop. Sue and her daughter enjoyed playing silly pranks on their neighbor, Bobbie. Sue always loved spending time with family and friends. She also loved animals. Through the years she had many cats and dogs and even loved her daughter’s snake, “Twiggles”, and “Toothless” the bearded dragon. Tara has a cat named, “Tootsie”. Tootsie never really liked Sue, but that didn’t keep Sue from trying to win her over. In the end, Tootsie liked Sue.

She is survived by her daughter Tara Bellon of Mapleton; stepdaughters Eva Rangitsch and Ann Kersting; granddaughter Keyonna Eversvik (Bellon); beloved dog Milo and many great friends. She also had a big family in MN that included the Tripps, Knutsons and Mcintosh families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott and her parents George and Ruth Hooper.

Her daughter says: “You watched me take my first breath and I saw you take your last……You will always be loved and missed!”

Celebration of Life:  3 to 7pm, Saturday, November 8th, at the Days Inn,  2050 Governors' Dr, Casselton, ND  58012.
