Stephen McDonough

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen Anthony McDonough, who entered into the presence of his Savior at the age of 59.

Born on December 9th, 1966 in Dumfries, Scotland, Steve lived a life marked by unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a servant's heart. As a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, he carried the values of honor, discipline, and sacrifice throughout every chapter of his life.

For 36 years, he shared a devoted marriage with the love of his life, Candace. Together they built a home centered on Christ, opening their hearts not only to their four biological children but also to eight adopted children. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished his role as "Dad" and "Grandpa" to his 12 beloved grandchildren.

As a first-generation Christian, Steve's faith transformed his life and became the foundation upon which he built his family. His love for God was evident in the way he helped others—with compassion, humility and generosity.

He believed in working hard, keeping his word, and providing faithfully for those he loved. He instilled these same values in his children, leaving them with an enduring example of integrity, perseverance, and responsibility.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy lives on through the faith he shared, the family he lovingly raised, and the countless lives he touched through his selfless love and unwavering character.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Candace; his 11 children; his 12 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. 

Open House/Visitation: Friday, August 7, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Interment: Nebraska Veterans Cemetery, Alliance, NE at a later date.
