Obituary

Sonya Marie Donahue (Jeanotte), 50, of West Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Sonya was born on November 18, 1971, to Patrick and Delilah Jeanotte in Dallas, TX.  The family moved to North Dakota in the late 70s and made their home. Sonya grew up and graduated from high school in West Fargo.

Sonya’s career endeavors began when she started her own in-home daycare which she ran for many years, before transitioning into business management in the Hospitality Industry. She excelled in this industry and managed multiple businesses throughout her career. Sonya’s genuine caregiving personality made her a great manager. She built lifelong friendships and created unforgettable memories over the years with her staff and clients. Sonya’s work ethic was immeasurable, and she took great pride in every position she held, including her position as a member of the Native American Commission in Fargo.

Above all, Sonya was proud of her family and was a devoted mother, daughter, wife, sister, and grandmother. From childhood to adulthood, she loved the time she had with all of those around her. To Sonya, family was the most important thing. She was the heart of her entire family and had the ability to bring everyone closer together. Sonya was the leader, protector, and provider of the family. The bond she shared with her sons was special and cannot be put into words. Sonya loved her boys and grandkids and she spoke about each of them with great pride.

Sonya met Chuck Donahue in 2014 and later married in 2016. Chuck made Sonya smile like nobody else could. She adored his sense of humor and love for experiencing new things. They went on trips to visit family and friends, took fun get away vacations, and they were always up for a good old Sunday afternoon BBQ.

Sonya will be remembered for her unconditional love and kindness, her quick wit and sense of humor, and her ability to light up any room with her presence. Sonya was always willing to give everything she had to anybody in need. She loved the little things life had to offer. Some of her favorite hobbies include interior decorating, lounging in the sun, and spending time with loved ones.

Sonya is survived by her parents, Pat and Delilah Jeanotte, husband Chuck Donahue, sons Tyler, Bailey and Riley Vareberg, stepson Dallas Donahue (Chelsea), brother Jason (Natalie), sister Kara (Colin), grandchildren Leila and Athena, grandmother Mildred, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
