Sonja Kristin Moen, 30, West Fargo, ND died on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her home.
Sonja was born June 28, 1993 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Watertown, SD and attended Watertown High School. After graduating in 2011, Sonja attended University of North Dakota for one year. Then, after welcoming her daughter, Olivia, in September of 2012, she became a CNA and went on to nursing school at Rasmussen College in Fargo, ND to obtain her RN degree. She worked in the Endoscopy unit at Sanford and then moved to her most recent position at Valley Oral Surgery.
She was so many things: a mother, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a niece, a friend, a nurse, a co-worker.
Sonja was a devoted mother and her children were her whole world. She became a mother at a young age and took on that challenge with grace and a determination to provide her daughter, Olivia, with a wonderful life. Her twins, Anders and Evelyn, came along a few years later. She never lacked the energy to laugh and play, snuggle, comfort and care for all her children, making each one of them feel special in their own way. She always put her kids first and worked hard every day to make sure they had everything they needed. They never lacked love because she gave them all the love in her huge heart.
Her friends remember her as the fun, free spirit she was. She lit up the room. She was full of mischief and laughs, the life of the party. She was kind, thoughtful, and compassionate. Sonja was someone you could confide in and never receive any judgment. She was the definition of a genuine, good friend and anyone who had the opportunity to call her a friend was blessed with the best.
Sonja was always family first. For her parents, Sonja was their baby girl. She was their light, their laughter, their confidant, and council. For her siblings, Sonja was “the fun one,” a best friend. She loved to talk on the phone. She was always joking and could be counted on for a good laugh or an open ear to share anything with. She was notorious for quoting movie lines, sending silly videos, dancing and singing. Sonja never turned down an adventure. She was the best auntie and loved her nieces and nephews as her own.
Sonja was a great nurse and always treated her patients like family. She was an amazing co-worker and brought light, energy, and laughter to the workplace every day.
Sonja leaves her loving family – parents Gary and Kristin Scofield; children, Olivia, Evelyn, and Anders Moen; siblings Elise (Brandon) Smith, Michael (Julie) Blickensderfer, Thomas (Stephanie) Scofield, and Mac (Jessica) Scofield; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lois Marie and Gordon Irion.
